Electronic Arts isn’t pulling any punches in the run-up to the release of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. The studio sent two of the world’s most lust-worthy Italilan exotics to go frolic through the countryside in a live-action interpretation of the game’s premise. The video stars one wayward Pagani Zonda Cinque on the run from a very stubborn Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and its accompanying air support. The whole tale is set to La Roux’s “Not Your Toy” remixed by the ever crafty Nero. It’s as fitting a soundtrack as we could imagine.

The video is, of course, dripping with high-horsepower slides and vaporized rear tires at the hands of legendary stunt drivers Marc Hennerici and Marc Basseng. Sound appetizing? Hit the jump to sink your teeth into the jaw-dropping spot.

Gran Turismo 5 Course Maker

Gran Turismo 5 Course Maker – Click above to watch video after the jump

As of right now, we’re a little more than a week away from the latest official release date for Gran Turismo 5. Thanks to the ridiculous frequency of delays, we aren’t exactly betting on having the game in our hands on November 24. But if, like us, you’ve been confounded by the repeated launch setbacks, you’ll likely find this latest video intriguing. Apparently one of the biggest reasons the game has been pushed back is the addition of a new course creator that allows players to generate their own tracks.

That means that with a little patience, you can cook up just about any combination of turns, elevation changes and the like, and then share them with friends. Something tells us we’re going to be working on getting Virginia International Raceway down pat for awhile. Hit the jump to see the clip for yourself.

Video: Chevy Cruze used to play live action game of Pac-Man

Chevrolet Cruze Pac-Man

2011 Chevrolet Cruze playing a full-size game of Pac-Man – Click above to watch video after the jump

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze is a nimble, compact sedan that could potentially turn into a top seller for General Motors. Apparently, it’s also a fan of classic video games. Well, at least the Chinese ad agency that dreamed up this interesting ad for it certainly is. A large room serves as the stage for a full-size representation of the Pac-Man universe. A white Chevy Cruze plays the part of Mr. Pac-Man while a series of Black Cruzes represent the ghosts.

The video is well made but could use a little more substance beyond the driving and background music. However, the song will be with you all day. A bit of a warning though, the song has a few swears in it, which is funny because either the ad agency didn’t notice them or just doesn’t care. Also, the ghosts should be multi-colored, and it would have been really hilarious if they were old Cavaliers.

Check out the commercial after the jump. If you end up enjoying the music, the name of the band is The League and the song is called “F* RNR”.

Warning: Possible NSFW language.

Class action suit alleges BMW N54 turbo engine unsafe, causes Unintended Deceleration

2010 BMW 335i

The award-winning BMW N54 inline-six has been a hit around the world since it made its debut in the 2006 E90 335i. The twin-turbocharged engine produces around 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and many have actually suggested that the Bavarian automaker’s power figures have been conservative. When it came out, BMW promised this engine would virtually eliminate turbo lag, increase performance and improve fuel economy at the same time. In fact, it was so confident in its new engine that it spread it around, adding it to its 1, 3 and 5 Series cars, along with its Z4 sports cars and X6 crossovers.

Unfortunately, the N54 has also seen its fair share of owner complaints. Most notably, unhappy BMW drivers allege having two very important issues with the wündermill; the high-pressure fuel pump has a very high failure rate and a defect in the design of the turbochargers requires they be tweaked so as not to run at full capacity. Many BMW owners have officially had it with the N54 engine and a class-action lawsuit has kicked into gear.

Former Chrysler execs file class-action suit over pension losses

More than 450 executives from Chrysler’s white collar force, going all the way back to Lee Iacocca, have sued Daimler and Cerberus for gutting the value of their collective supplemental pensions to the tune of $100 million. They class action suit took the noted step of not suing Fiat-owned Chrysler, with the lead attorney saying that “Everybody involved in this suit loves that company and like everybody else wants to see it succeed.”

Plaintiffs accuse Daimler and Cerberus of not adequately protecting the supplemental pensions from creditors as Chrysler’s health slid from trouble to terminal. Those pensions weren’t moved to the new Chrysler, and now the former execs are paying the price. Follow the jump for a press release from the lead firm handling the case.

And by business as usual, we mean nail-biting, wheel-to-wheel action and bitter rivalries. With that much pent-up anticipation, it would take some spectacle to make up for the hiatus. Auction Action: Steve Saleen’s pre-pro Ford GT up for grabs in Monterey

Filed under: Classics, Coupe, Performance, Auctions, Ford, Celebrities

Steve Saleen’s Ford GT Prototype – Click above for image gallery

Steve Saleen has apparently gotten it in his mind to auction off his personal Ford GT. While we’re not exactly ones to go all star-crossed over a vehicle’s ownership history, this particular car is more than a plain vanilla GT with Saleen’s name on the title. In fact, the car was never titled at all because it’s the fifth of nine prototype vehicles built before GT production got off of the ground in 2005. The car started life dipped in yellow, but received the blue on white treatment at some later point in history.

If the paint doesn’t do anything for you, the fact that the car reportedly wears a hand-built twin-screw supercharger should. Supposedly, Saleen’s GT was the only of the nine prototypes to receive the blessing of forced induction. The car currently has 4,000 miles on the odometer thanks to a lengthy stint in PR and a few movie appearances in the likes of The Fast and the Furious and Rocky Balboa – that’s got to be worth something, right?

If Saleen’s supercar sounds like something you wouldn’t mind sticking in the garage, you’ll need to check out the Russo and Steele auction at Monterey this weekend.

MotoGP 2010 USA: Live action from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca [Spoilers]

MotoGP action from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – Click above for high-res image gallery

We’re live from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, and we just witnessed some awesome racing action. Well, awesome for some riders, less so for others. For instance, we’re certain that Factory Honda rider Dani Pedrosa isn’t particularly pleased with his result.

After leading the race for the first 11 laps, Pedrosa crashed out at turn five. Yamaha-mounted Jorge Lorenzo, who had positioned himself in second position following Pedrosa, inherited first place. He would not relinquish his grip on the lead for the remainder of the race, earning his sixth win of the 2010 season and his first at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The rest of the field sorted itself out over the course of the race, with Ducati (for now, at least) rider Casey Stoner finding himself in second place behind Lorenzo by 3.5 seconds. Third position was claimed by Valentino Rossi, who made his second start of the season riding with a broken leg.

Andrea Dovizioso relinquished third position to Rossi with just five laps left to go in the race, and he ended up finishing in fourth place. American riders managed to take the next three slots, with Nicky Hayden edging out Ben Spies and Colin Edwards (in that order) for fifth. Check out our high-res image gallery below and see the full finishing order after the break.
