Our National Parks are American treasures, and one company wants you to get out there and explore them. We saw its first creation, the Xplore Adventure Series FJ Cruiser, at last year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. That vehicle is going to be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the National Parks Foundation. Xplore isn’t limiting itself to just the FJ Cruiser, however, and parts will soon be available for various Jeep, Ram Truck, Toyota, Ford, GM, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

The parts are available at local dealerships and range from the basic to the burly. Stage one of the Xplore series of parts includes interior upgrades produced with the help of Katzkin. Stage two upgrades feature BFGoodrich off-road tires, aluminum wheels, Bilstein shocks and a Magnaflow stainless-steel cat-back exhaust. If you want to push further into the woods, Stage three bolts on winches, a roof rack, rock rails, a rooftop tent and upgraded lighting. There’s also a built-to-order Stage 4 for Jeep and Toyota vehicles, which brings builder TLC into the mix and adds custom paint choices as well as electronic upgrades and expedition-level equipment.

Keeping with the theme of the Xplore name, each Xplore vehicle comes with a one-year National Parks pass, membership in the Xplore club and a subscription to the Xplore Lifestyle magazine.

First look at Disney’s new Cars-themed adventure park ride

When we were but knee-high auto obssessives, our two favorite rides at Disney World were Space Mountain and Indy Speedway. One gave us a genuine feeling of speed while the other let us pretend for a few fleeting moments that our driver’s license wasn’t quite so far away. Now it looks like youngin’s out there will have a new car-themed attraction to check out in the Magic Kingdom, or more specifically, Disney’s California Adventure Park. Motor World Hype has managed to get their hands on a few quick shots of the amusement park’s new Cars-themed ride.

Called Radiator Springs Racers, the attraction is set to open sometime in 2012. In addition to the marginally-creepy looking cars in this particular ride, Disney is planning a whole section of the park dedicated to the Pixar film. The opening should coincide nicely with the Summer 2011 release of Cars 2… and it may just give us still-car-obsessed adults a good reason to revisit our youth.

Honda keeps teasing V4 Adventure Concept

Honda V4 Adventure Concept

Honda has given the interwebs a quick look at what we can expect from the front of the company’s V4 Adventure Concept slated to be unveiled in Milan. Judging by the teaser, it looks like the bike will boast a narrower profile compared to its VFR cousin, helping keep the engine cool and things from going squirrely should the rider decide to visit the upper registers of the speedometer. Additionally, Asphalt and Rubber reports the bike may not pack the same behemoth 1200cc mill as the current VFR as initially believed. Instead, Honda may opt for a smaller engine to keep weight down – think something in the 800cc range.

The company has also indicated that the V4 Adventure Concept will carry floating gauges akin to what’s found in the sport bike crowd in order to help keep the rider’s eyes forward. That fits in line with word that Honda still intends this concept to me more of a soft roader and less of a true adventure warrior.

Honda VFR Adventure Concept: Big gets badder

Honda is planning to debut an arsenal of eight bikes in Milan, and we may have our first inclination of what to expect from at least one of the machines. Behold the VFR Adventure Concept – a 1200cc behemoth designed to cater to those who like the style of dual-sport tourer but loathe the notion of actually heading off of the beaten path. Think more along the lines of the Ducati Multistrada than the KTM 990 Adventure.

As of right now, details are remarkably scarce about what to expect from the machine, though some seem to think that the bike will likely show up as a 2012 production model.

So what does the VFR Adventure bring to the table over the current VFR? From what we can see, it looks like riders can expect a slightly taller stance with more ground clearance and a skimpier fairing, but not much else. Honda has been pretty tricky about letting this one out of the bag, keeping news of the concept to its European press site. Does that mean that American buyers won’t be able to get their gloves on this one? Hard telling.

Triumph Tiger 800 proves the British can still manufacture adventure

Triumph Tiger 800 XC – Click above to enlarge

Back in the day, the British were known for being a nation of ready-and-willing explorers, and somewhat similar expressions could be made of their motorcycles. Sadly, Jolly Ole’ England’s once impressive two-wheeled heritage very nearly vanished as quickly as all those headline-grabbing expeditions to the ends of the Earth.

At least one storied British motorcycling brand hasn’t forgotten its heritage, as the revived Triumph has seen fit to launch a new adventure touring mount for 2011 called the Tiger 800. As we’ve mentioned before, two versions of the machine will be available, one meant for off-road excursions dubbed the XC and one biased for the road.

Triumph has finally let loose an official shot of the Tiger 800 XC, and we generally like what we see. There’s a 21-inch front wheel with spokes and knobby tires, bash guards and mud-catching fenders. We also note some accessory parts, including a beefier engine guard and an Arrow exhaust can. Check it out for yourself by clicking on the image above to enlarge.
