Rumormill: Special Mini Clubman Hampton Edition coming to Geneva

Filed under: Geneva Motor Show, Europe, Hatchback, Mini, Rumormill

2011 Mini Clubman

Mini is rumored to be cooking up a special-edition version of the company’s Clubman for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The hatch will be called the Hampton, and will come slathered in a new Reef Blue Metallic paint with Damson Red hood stripes and mirror caps. Mini is also said to be throwing in a slew of special badges and Bi-Xenon headlights, and the whole package is set to ride on 17-inch twin-spoke alloy rollers. Inside, there’s plenty of black leather with red accents, and the same color scheme gets carried over onto the floor mats and dash.

At this point, Mini hasn’t said a word about the Clubman Hampton, so we don’t know what the company has planned in terms of price, market availability or production figures. Likewise, the whispers kicking around the internets haven’t said a word about whether or not there will be any bumps in horsepower or if the car will boast a massaged suspension. We’ll just have to wait until March to find out.

Schmidt Revolution Streetworker tuning tricks on the ave with Mini Clubman

The Streerworker from Schmidt Revolution

Schmidt Revolution, a wheel manufacturer and tuning company in Germany, has gotten its hands on a Mini Clubman and turned it into… something else. While we kinda dig the matte blue wrap job with contrasting black fenders, we’re not sold on the wheels – or much else. Regardless, this isn’t just a “tune” of the all-go-no-show variety. Output on the Clubman was raised to 200 horsepower and 183 pound-feet of torque through unspecified means. That’s more than a standard Clubman S, but it’s a hair shy of a John Cooper Works-equipped car.

Hop the jump to read more about the air-ride equipped Streetworker and give it a look in the gallery below. Fair warning: The press release was translated from German, so the English is not perfect – but it is amusing.

Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman reportedly set for production

As is the case in the automobile world, what’s old is suddenly new again. While some homages to the past may be better left right where they are, others are simply due to come back in vogue. Such is the case with the classic cafe racer motorcycle, which some might argue never actually went out of style in the first place. And we totally dig the effective use of simple touches that make Moto Guzzi’s V7 Clubman stand out from the rest of the Italian manufacturer’s lineup.

Take, for instance, the sloping single-passenger humped saddle and the tiny front windscreen and number plate, which is mimicked on either side of the rear fender. Add in a highly polished fuel tank and an upswept Arrow exhaust system and you’ve got the perfect modern reinterpretation of a classic street racer. Makes us want to do the ton on our way to the Ace Cafe just looking at it…

That dream may soon be a reality, it seems. According to Motorcycle-USA’s monthly Euro Gossip report, the handsome Guzzi is headed for production in October. The supposed additional $1500 over the standard V7 Classic seems reasonable for all those aforementioned upgrades. We’ve contacted Moto Guzzi for an official word on whether or not the bike will come to the States, but in the meantime feel free to take a look at our high-res image gallery below.
