Official: 2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Filed under: Truck, Etc., Work, Chevrolet, GMC

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed – Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.

Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.

They’ll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now’s a good time to start practicing your box-checking.

Porsche unwraps 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and Panamera Hybrid configurators

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Porsche has updated its site with configurators for the 2011 Panamera S Hybrid and the 2011 911 GT3 RS 4.0. That means you don’t have to leave the comfort of your chalet to make your next rear-engined track star or EV-assisted four-door autobahn shuttle.

Key options for the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 include Porsche’s carbon ceramic brakes, a front axle lifting system so you don’t scrape the splitter on speed bumps, lightweight headlamps and a lithium-ion battery that saves a few pounds over the standard unit. You can also delete the air conditioner and stereo in the interest of speed.

The Panamera gets the usual panorama of luxury appointments and go bits, too. Carbon ceramic brakes are an option as well, and, just like the 911, they cost north of $8,000. While the capillary-popping force the special clampers offer can be useful, we suspect most Panamera buyers would prefer to direct their Benjamins elsewhere.

The Panamera can be dolled up in any number of ways, with an interior option list that would embarrass Ikea. Ours would have to have the $1,000 Bose sound system, though we could live without the $5,000 Porsche Exclusive 25 Year package, which adds custom floor mats, body-color trim accents and embroidered logos to the Panamera’s living quarters.

You can play with both configurators now on Porsche’s website.

2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX configurators up and running

Filed under: Car Buying, Crossover, Ford, Lincoln, Luxury

The 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Lincoln MKX configurators have gone live for your shopping – or time-wasting – enjoyment. The Edge SE starts at $27,220 for the 3.5-liter V6, but you can hit it out of the park before even leaving the first page by selecting the Edge Sport all-wheel drive for $38,070. That’ll get you a 305-horsepower, 3.7-liter V6 canvas to play with. There isn’t much more you can add to it, but after stuffing it like a turkey we got it up to $45,171. For those with a mind to be a kinder on wallets and Mother Earth, there are SEL and Limited trims on offer, as well as the 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine (…eventually).

The Lincoln MKX puts less on the table when it comes to varieties: the front-wheel drive starts at $39,145, the AWD at $40,995. Both get that 3.7-liter V6, six-speed SelectShift transmission and SYNC as standard fit. If you go the package route, your work is just about finished, because they cement quite a few exterior and interior choices. But don’t take our words for it – click the links and get to configuratin’. Hot tips, Drew and Tony!
