The kindly people at Aprilia have gone through the trouble of working up a teaser video for the company’s wicked new Dorsoduro 1200. The motorcycle manufacturer stuck to a fairly simple recipe when it came time to cook up its latest creation by bolting in a 130-horsepower 1200cc V-twin in place of the of 750cc mill on the Dorsoduro 750. Throw in three different power modes (Sport, Touring and Rain), an advanced traction control system and anti-lock brakes and you’ve got what the company calls a maxi-motard.

It may not have the most flattering name on the planet, but the bike should pack the power and poise necessary to give metal like the Ducati Hypermotard 1100 and BMW HP2 Megamoto a run for their lunch money.

Aprilia tells us that the Dorsoduro 1200 will cost $11,999 when it goes on sale in the States sometime in the middle of 2011. For what it’s worth, the Dorso 750 commands a sticker price of just under $10,000. Hit the jump to take a look at the teaser video for yourself.

Rejoice, two-wheel fans: Aprilia has decided to grace the land of the free with the delectable Dorsoduro 1200. According to the moto-obsessed crew over at Hell For Leather, the bike is coming our way next year and we can expect to see it in showrooms as soon as this Spring.

The bike gets underway courtesy of a water-cooled, 1200 cc, 130-horsepower twin-cylinder engine that, according to Aprilia, is a completely new design. With four-valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams and three throttle maps for varying riding conditions, the powerplant sounds like an engineer’s wish list.

The whole party comes to a stop courtesy of twin 320 mm floating discs clamped by Brembo four-piston calipers. Throw in the traditional up-right riding position of the supermoto set and you’ve got a recipe for ridiculously powerful riding perfection. So far, there’s no word on how much the Dorsoduro 1200 will set you back, but we’re guessing that it won’t be long before Aprilia drops the MSRP. Spring is right around the corner, after all.

Aprilia just released video of its brand new Dorsoduro 1200 dancing through a set of mountain twisties. Better still, the whole shebang is set to the ever-badass tunes of ZZ Top. It’s our kind of kitsch. If you’re still reading and not watching the video after the jump, we’re not sure if we can still be friends. The big v-twin looks like an absolute blast with its quasi-motard stance. Even with that massive mill saddled down low, the riders in the video don’t seem to have any problem flinging the bike through a series of somewhat technical turns.

The downside, of course, is that as of right now, Aprilia has no plans to bring the big Dorsoduro 1200 to the land of the free. That means that if you like what you see, you better pick up the phone and start hounding your local dealer. There’s always a chance that with enough interest, Aprilia just might change its mind. Hit the jump to see the flick for yourself.

Leaked documents out upcoming Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200

Rumors have swirled since the introduction of Aprilia’s in-house developed 750cc V-twin engine back in 2007 (in the company’s naked Shiver and supermoto-inspired Dorsoduro models) that a larger 1200cc version of the potent mill was in the offing. Well, it’s been nearly four years since its introduction, and we still don’t see a big-bore bike to go up against the likes of the Ducati Monster and Hypermotard.

However, it seems such a machine may finally be headed to a dealership near you. And interestingly enough, the news kinda sorta comes from Aprilia itself in the form of (what we assume to be) a mistakenly posted service manual for the upcoming bike. It appears that the new engine will sport higher compression in addition to the increased displacement, so we’re expecting plenty of power from the ride-by-wire platform.

We should also see a suitably beefed-up chassis with slightly more relaxed steering geometry, longer wheelbase and fully adjustable Sachs suspension. Anti-lock brakes will be optional and can be fully turned off. All signs point to a November debut at the upcoming EICMA Show in Milan, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see 1200cc versions of both the Dorsoduro and Shiver.
