Report: Are you the 2015 Nissan Versa facelift?

Filed under: Spy Photos, Budget, Sedan, China, Nissan, Design/Style

The current-generation Nissan Sunny – the overseas equivalent to the Versa sedan – has been around since 2010, and now it appears that Nissan has some small changes in store for it. Based on these small, dark and grainy photos from Chinese site, Auto Sohu, the Sunny could be set to receive a slight styling refresh.

From what we can tell, the biggest change will be to the headlights with the Sunny getting boomerang-style units similar those on current Nissan sedans in the US. We wouldn’t be surprised to see these changes to carry over to our Versa sedan soon. Grille and fascia changes also seem to be in the works, but it’s hard to make out any other changes from these images alone.

Spy Shots: Land Rover LR4 getting facelift and interior refresh

Filed under: Spy Photos, Land Rover, Luxury, Off-Road

Land Rover is preparing a slight freshening of the its seven-passenger, mid-range LR4 (known outside of North America as the Discovery 4). The LR4/Disco 4 is currently the second oldest model in the Land Rover range, besides the mostly forgotten LR2/Freelander, and while it’s still a competent entry, its age is beginning to show.

This refresh should allow it to soldier on until a replacement can be built, which logic would dictate is to be called LR5/Discovery 5. Until then, the current SUV gets the typical batch of headlight tweaks, along with a freshened front bumper. The side mirrors are new as well.

On the inside, we can also expect a long-awaited upgrade to the infotainment system. Jaguar and Land Rover have both struggled in this regard, so here’s hoping the new system offers an improvement.

The big news for the LR4 will come under its hood. Jaguar Land Rover as a whole has already phased out the excellent but thirsty 5.0-liter V8, with the only holdover being the supercharged variant. That means the V8 LR4 is not long for this world. Look for it to be replaced by the same supercharged, 3.0-liter V6 that’s offered as a base engine in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. As with the Jaguar XF we tested, ZF’s eight-speed automatic would likely harness the V6’s power.

Expect to see a refreshed LR4, likely before the end of 2013.

Spy Shots: Audi S4 facelift spied on the ‘Ring

The piping-hot Audi RS4 may not be destined for consumption here in the United States, but its little brother, the S4, will continue to live on in America. Our spy photographers recently spotted this S4 prototype – in delicious Avant flavor – testing on the Nürburgring, showing off a newly facelifted front end.

Much like the A6 and A7, the revised S4 will wear Audi’s reshaped grille with slanted upper corners – a design element that will also trickle down to the base A4 and the A5. Additionally, it appears that the front bumper has been tweaked, with larger lower air intakes that are reminiscent of what we see on the smaller TTS. Our spies also suggest that the S4’s taillamps will receive a once-over, looking more akin to what’s currently used on the A6/A7.

Mum’s the word on powertrain upgrades, but we expect that Audi has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep the S4’s performance prowess in check. Some minor tweaks to the car’s cabin will likely be in store, as well. Look for the facelifted S4 to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

Spy Shots: Hyundai Genesis Coupe facelift on the way

Hyundai debuted the refreshed 2012 Genesis Sedan at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, and in addition to revised styling and a brand new 5.0-liter V8, the Korean sedan’s 3.8-liter V6 gets a slew of enhancements. By adding direct injection, the V6 now makes 333 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque – gains of 43 and 27, respectively, over the outgoing V6.

During the Chicago festivities, we asked Hyundai PR spokesperson Jim Trainor about how soon this updated V6 would be available in the Genesis Coupe. We were originally told that upgrades wouldn’t be seen “for a little while,” and this latest set of spy shots shows that styling revisions are on deck for the Genesis Coupe, perhaps even with the upgraded V6 underhood.

Expect the Coupe to get slightly reworked front and rear fascias, and we won’t rule out the possibility of enhancements to the interior, as well. Mum’s the word on when the updated two-door will bow, though we’d guess that the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year sounds about right.

Spy Shots: Jaguar XK facelift spotted

Jaguar XK spy shots

Our elusive spy photographers have captured the first glimpse of the facelifted Jaguar XK coupe out testing near the automaker’s development center in Coventry. This doesn’t appear to be a major overhaul, with the exterior only changing minimally, including a new front fascia with revised headlamps, larger side sills and a very slightly touched-up rear fascia, including a small wing on this prototype. (We don’t expect that to be commonplace on all XKs, as it’s not exactly the most attractive element on the coupe.)

This may not be an all-new version of the XK, but our spies suggest that some changes might be on tap for what’s underhood, mostly in an effort to keep the coupe fresh for a few more years. We don’t take issue with the current range of naturally aspirated or supercharged 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 engines – both engines are relatively new, after all – but some dynamic tweaks would indeed keep the XK at the front of our minds for years to come.

Kia Pro_cee’d facelift leaked ahead of Geneva?

Filed under: Budget, Europe, Hatchback, Kia

2011 Kia Pro_Cee'd

Let the Geneva Motor Show previews begin. A handful of images of the facelifted Kia Pro_Cee’d have managed to find their way to the internet via Kia World. Fans of the company’s corporate nose will be happy to see the communal H-shaped grille make an appearance on the model for the first time, and new, aggressive fog-light insets help give the vehicle a little more personality, too. We can’t tell from the leaked photos, but we’d guess that the rear has received a similar, if not slight, update as well.

But the aesthetics aren’t the only thing on that’s changed on the punctuation-laden Pro_Cee’d. Kia World also suggests that the Kia will now come with a slightly warmed-over diesel engine under its hood. The new lump is expected to churn out 128 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque from 1.6-liters of displacement. Look for the revised Pro_Cee’d to show up at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.
