Occasionally, we can’t help but think we were born in the wrong corner of the globe. With our penchant for diesel fuel, wagons, hatchbacks and forced-induction four-cylinders, something tells us we would have been right at home growing up on the old continent.

Why all this musing on our misplaced youth? The goons at Evo Magazine have just released a new teaser video for the rag’s upcoming issue, and the cover story is rife with all sorts of metal we don’t get to play with here in the Land of the Free. The editors lined up three of the meanest hatchback bruisers available in the EU and matched them up against a mighty Ferrari Enzo. That’s right, an Enzo. Go big or go home, fellas.

The contenders include a Ford Focus RS, a Subaru WRX STI Spec C and the blistering new Audi RS 3 Sportback. For those of you who are keeping score, our chubby yank hands won’t even get close to touching any of that hardware in our neck of the woods. How’d the three musketeers stand up to the might Italian stallion? Your guess is as good as ours. We’ll have to pick up the next Evo Magazine to find out. In the meantime, check out the video after the jump. Thanks for the tip, Georgian!

Edo Competition does its thing with Evo magazine’s Koenigsegg

Already one of the fastest cars on the road, the Koenigsegg CCR is not the first that’d spring to mind when thinking of rides that could use some additional tuning. It’s already got 816 horsepower, after all, and can top out at around 245 miles per hour. What more could you want?

Well, that was before the new Agera came out. Now the previous-generation Koenigsegg suddenly seems a little outdated. So the UK’s Evo magazine – a publication blessed with a garage full of supercars – brought its CCR to the folks at Edo Competition for a little… enhancement.

The tuning house known for its custom Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches carefully went to work on Evo‘s Koenigsegg, remapping the ECU and tweaking the pair of superchargers. Then they massaged the transmission, reworked the gearing, upgraded the brakes, and enhaned the car’s appearance inside and out.

The result is 891 horsepower, re-calibrated to kick in at lower revs for quicker acceleration at the expense of top end. Follow the jump for all the details in the press release and check out the high-resolution images in the mega gallery below for a closer look.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with EVO's Chris Harris

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport reviewed by EVO’s Chris Harris – Click above to watch video after the jump

We know what resident lucky bastard Autoblog contributor Rex Roy thinks about the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Now we get another perspective on the hypercar courtesy of EVO magazine’s Chris Harris. His thoughts? Occasionally frustrating, yet worth every penny. Harris laments that he gets an amazing sensation of speed yet he has to be off the gas almost as quickly as he gets on it. The 267-mph Veyron Super Sport just moves too quickly for everyday situations.

Since it is Chris Harris behind the wheel, we’re treated to a nice patch-laying takeoff before he launches into a discussion of the car. The clip, which you can find after the jump, also treats us to a little over a minute of no talking… just footage of the car. Wonderful.

EVO drives the new Lancia Stratos

It’s a shame the Pininfarina Stratos probably won’t see widespread production. The car is hewn straight from the naughtiest of our automotive dreams, and with some of its aluminum bones borrowed from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia it promises to be as fun to fling as anything with four wheels. The crew at EVO was lucky enough to weasel their way behind the wheel of the lovely one-off, becoming the first journalists to do so in the process. That sound? It’s the noise our boundless jealousy makes when agitated.

EVO was able to take the car out for a couple of hot laps around Circuit Paul Ricard, and the verdict is that, as you might expect, the car is plenty nimble and just as quick. There is some indication that the vehicle’s short wheelbase would likely make for some hair-raising antics at higher speeds, though. EVO even goes so far as to say that the vehicle has a completely different personality compared to its Prancing Horse donor. Even better, there may be a very small production run in the vehicle’s future.
