Translogic hits the streets in a Tango EV – Click above to watch video after the jump

The Tango electric vehicle looks like a cross between a G-Wiz and Goldmember’s Corbin Sparrow. However, it has a hidden talent buried underneath its tandem seating configuration: It’s quick – very quick. What does that mean exactly? Bradley Hasemeyer and the AOL Translogic crew decided to trek to Spokane, Washington and talk to the man behind the machine, to find out.

The brainchild of Rick Woodbury, the Tango EV is an electric two-passenger car capable of sub-four-second 0-60 mile per hour bursts. At just 39-inches wide, the Tango is narrower than a Honda Goldwing motorcycle. It’s no cream-puff piece of plastic, either. Woodbury says you ought to be quite safe behind the wheel of the Tango thanks to its FIA-certified roll-cage and reinforced doors.

It’s a tire-smoking electric two-door that looks as odd as it does fun. Whir past the jump to watch Translogic take the Tango EV for a spin.

Tackling Eau Rouge: F1 vs Track-Day cars – Click above to watch video after the jump

The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium plays host to a variety of racing events, ranging from from Formula One and touring car to weekend track days. When out on the course in a production car, it might feel like you are conquering the Eau Rouge better than any human on the planet. This video mashup is here to remind that you’re not.

This isn’t ground-breaking information, but it is interesting to see just how much faster an F1 car is around a series of high-speed turns. Someone over in the VWVortex’s Car Lounge decided to overlay two videos of the same corner, and while they don’t line up perfectly, you get the point. Check it out after the jump.

Audi maintains it isn’t at odds with parent VW over new EV?

All is apparently well in the house of Volkswagen. According to Automotive News, Audi has come out and refuted reports that the German automaker is butting heads with its parent company. Rumors had cropped up that the two had been locking horns over the creation of the Audi A1 E-tron. Word had it that VW was riled that Audi wanted to craft a range-extended EV with a gasoline rotary engine instead of following the EV plans of the rest of the VW family. Reports had said that Audi wanted a vehicle that would be an alternative to the BMW Mega City car.

Volkswagen wants all of the brands under its watch to use similar platforms for their respective electric vehicle efforts, or at least that’s what The Financial Times Deutschland reported earlier this week. Automotive News, however has reported that Audi says there’s no conflict between the two companies. Volkswagen, meanwhile, was apparently unavailable for comment the story.

Pagani, Mercedes say V12 bound for C9 isn’t shared

For reasons unclear, Mercedes and Pagani both felt the need to quash increasing speculation that the V12 in the coming Pagani C9 has anything to do with the V12 in the SL65 AMG Black Series. AMG is developing the motor for Pagani’s next supercar, and Road & Track and Autocar had both said the Pagani engine was an evolution of a mill from Mercedes.

The twin-turbo V12 in the Black Series was rated at 670 horsepower and 730 pound-feet – itself a massaged and tuned version of the motor in the standard SL65 AMG. The joint statement to refute said, however, that “The engine of the Pagani C9 is not a derivative of the AMG V12 engine developed for the SL65 Black Series, nor is the AMG V12 engine in the SL65 Black Series derived from the engine AMG is currently developing for the Pagani C9.” That about says it all, no?
