Lamborghini Aventador configurator goes live

While it’s not as fun to play with as the Bugatti Veyron configurator or even the Novitec Rosso 458 Italia configurator, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 web toy is up and running. Sadly, all you can do is pick exterior and interior color combinations, meaning the build-your-own Aventador site isn’t as much of a time-waster as we’d like it to be as you’d think.

We decided to go with Giallo Orion, a pearl yellow color, for our Aventador. A supercar should be bright and obnoxious, and this paint scheme certainly does the job. However, if you are feeling sinister, there is a matte black color option called Nero Nemesis, but if you opt for that stealthy color, you should just go ahead and change your name to Bonda… Giacomo Bonda. Head over to the Aventador website and paint the Lambo of your dreams now. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Geneva 2011: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

Lamborghini’s fifth generation V12 supercar made its official debut in Geneva, and while we’ve already detailed every aspect of the Aventador LP700-4 in our in-depth article we published yesterday, today we finally had the opportunity to get some first person impressions of the latest Raging Bull.

Lamborghini had three Aventadors on display, ranging from the bright orange example we first saw in the studio photos to a more subtle grey and a stunning matte white. The white, in particular, shows off the various styling elements of the exterior, especially the muscular creases on the front and sides. Despite having more complex lines, the Aventador still manages to have a cleaner look than some of the later generation Murcielagos. We snag a few minutes inside, and the quality of materials is proof that Lamborghini is continuing to benefit the Volkswagen Group’s influence.

You can see our live photos of the Aventador LP700-4 in the gallery below, and be sure to see our in-depth coverage of the car in case you missed it the first time around.

Everything You Need To Know About Italy’s New Raging Bull

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 – Click above for high-res image gallery

Before the Geneva Motor Show press conference on Tuesday, Lamborghini let us in on a private Bologna-area photography studio so that we could get our own sex-machine shots of their raging new V12 firestarter, the 691-horsepower Aventador LP700-4.

First off, we’re glad they didn’t call it ‘Jota’ as some were peas-and-carroting about because it’s just a silly and unpronounceable name. It probably belonged to some wimpy minor league bull, too. Only one true Jota was ever built in 1970, and it was a just an amped-up and flared Miura (we prefer not to think about the mid-90s Diablo anniversary upgrade kits).

“Aventador” was, according to the best detective work we can muster, a bull whose career peaked in 1993 in the town of Saragozza, Spain, when he and the torero had a particularly spirited encounter prior to ol’ Aventador’s inevitable skewering. This particular beastie belonged to the breeding stables of the sons of Don Celestino Cuadri Vides and, for unknown reasons surely banal, he bore the number 32 singed on his hide. And now he gets the strongest Lamborghini ever built named after him. And about damned time! The British were getting tired of mispronouncing “Murcièlago” over the past ten years and now they have a new proper name to mutilate.

Rendered Speculation: Lamborghini Aventador loses its lid

Filed under: Convertible, Performance, Lamborghini, Luxury

Lamborghini Aventador Spyder

At long last, we’ve seen the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. As any fan of the golden bull should know, when it comes to guessing the next variant of Lamborghini’s biggest and baddest coupe all one need do is imagine the car with about two feet of roof gone missing. Or you don’t even need to suppose, since RenderedSpeculation.com has done it for you.

The Aventador’s close outward relation to previous members of Lamborghini’s V12 family means the roadster’s appearance – at least in rendered form – is exactly what you’d expect. So instead of considering this a test of the imagination, consider it planning: tax refunds will be coming soon, and you might as well figure out now whether the coupe or the inevitable roadster deserves your money…

Lamborghini Aventador leaked ahead of Geneva reveal?

Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4We received our first glance at its insides this morning, but the folks at WorldCarFans have stumbled upon what appears to be the first image of the completed Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week, the Aventador is Lambo’s new Murciélago-replacing flagship supercar, and as its (still unconfirmed) name suggests, we can expect around 700 horsepower to be on tap, stemming from a brand new twelve-cylinder heart.

We’ve seen dozens of spy shots of the Aventador, and all signs point to a very aggressive design. There are plenty of styling cues from the Sesto Elemento concept that debuted at the Paris Motor Show last Fall, and the end result is absolutely irresistible. Take down the Ferrari posters from your walls, kids – there’s a new supermodel to drool over.

The rest of the Aventador’s rumored specs are just as impressive. It’ll sprint to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds, and it’ll do 217 mph at the very top end. This sheer speed is the result of Lamborghini’s new carbon fiber monocoque cell that weighs just under 325 pounds – in fact, the whole body-in-white tips the scales at just 505 pounds. Even when the drivetrain and interior bits are bolted in, this new Lambo should be seriously lightweight (for a car its size, anyway).

Expect the full details on the all-wheel-drive Aventador LP700-4 to be revealed in the coming days, and we’ll get our first in-person glimpse at the new hotness next week. Get ready. Top tip, Sean!

Lamborghini Gallardo Singapore Limited Edition lands in the Far East

Lamborghini Gallardo Singapore edition

Lamborghini Gallardo Singapore Limited Edition

Markets in the Far East are increasingly vital for high-end automakers like Lamborghini. The Italian purveyor of exotic supercars has been in the Singapore market, specifically, for ten years. Now, to celebrate the milestone, Lamborghini has produced a very limited run of special-edition Gallardos exclusive to Singapore.

The Singapore-themed Gallardo was created in partnership between the factory and its Singapore importer. Available in white or black, the Singapore Limited Edition wears a set of red side stripes accented by a badge featuring the Merlion – the lion-headed fish mascot created by the Singapore Tourism Board in the 1964.

Only ten examples of the car were produced, and all have apparently been spoken for. Delivery of the entire run recently took place at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Singapore. S$20,000 (about $15k in equivalent American funds) of the proceeds from each Singapore Limited Edition Gallardo sold went to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund to benefit underprivileged students. We’re less than two weeks away from the Lamborghini Aventador’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, so that means there’s plenty of time for a few more “leaks” ahead of the big bull’s reveal.

This latest clip of the 700-horsepower V12 Lambo comes courtesy of Autogespot, which has received a remarkably well-produced, two-minute video of the Murciélago successor running through some snow-covered hills. The exterior camouflage is still intact, but we finally get our first glimpse of the interior, including the steering wheel and IP. Nothing revolutionary, but well worth checking out in the video after the jump.

Spy Shots: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 captured from every angle

Don’t be foolish, Lamborghini. You should have known that a couple of stock “spy” shots of the Aventador LP700-4 wouldn’t be enough for us to call off the hounds. Our crack team of camera-wielding warriors managed to lay their lenses on the upcoming Murciélago replacement while the vehicle was undergoing extreme weather testing near the Arctic Circle. If you can look through the snow and the trippy tornado camouflage, you just might notice a face that’s even more sinister than that of the old king of the Lamborghini hill. We’re guessing that the production version of the vehicle will make use of an even more angular front fascia and rear valance than what we’re used to seeing from the already trapezoid-happy supercars.

Rumor has it that we can expect a 0-60 mph time of around three seconds thanks to a 704-horsepower V12 engine with 509 pound-feet of torque on hand. The engine is supposedly mated to an electrohydraulically-actuated transmission that can swap cogs in around 50 milliseconds. Lamborghini hasn’t released too many details on the tech behind the transmission just yet, but from the sound of things, it’s a new level of quick.

Mauro Lecchi’s Lamborghini yacht under construction, with Fenice Milano interior

Mauro Lecci Lamborghini motoryacht

When we first brought you Italian designer Mauro Lecchi’s vision of a Lamborghini power yacht, we were suitably intrigued, but didn’t imagine it would actually ever hit the water. Color us surprised, because apparently it is.

The design, “heavily contaminated by stretched lines”, according to the press release, takes its cues from Lamborghinis old and new and applies them to the 50-foot form of an express motor yacht. Available propulsion options range from an available pair of 550-horsepower V12s from Motori Marini Lamborghini, and ultimately top out at twin 950-horsepower Seatek turbodiesels. The first example of the Lamborghini-themed yacht is apparently now being built, incorporating lightweight carbon-Kevlar construction that promises to be significantly lighter than the usual fiberglass or even aluminum.

Just in case it isn’t flashy enough on the outside, Lecchi and company have contracted Fenice Milano to outfit the yacht’s interior spaces. Yes, that’s the same Fenice Milano that has gilded everything from the Fiat 500 to the Rolls-Royce Ghost. So you know it’ll be suitably decadent (or horrifying). We’ve updated the high-res image gallery below as the yacht undergoes construction, accompanied by Fenice Milano’s press release after the jump.
