We’re all for an event that culminates with the serving of cake, especially when the sweet stuff is delivered in tandem with supercharged Mustang coupes built especially for drag racing. Ford recently threw a party at the Auto Alliance Mustang factory in Flat Rock, MI to celebrate the official delivery of its new 2012 Mustang Cobra Jet, a vehicle that the company proudly maintains is quickest accelerating production vehicle ever made. When pressed, Ford tells us the CJ will do a 60-foot launch in 1.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in under 10 seconds. We asked about a 0-60 mph time, but we were reminded that measurement is pretty meaningless in drag racing.

Cobra Jet buyers from all over came from as far away as Calgary, Alberta and Puerto Rico to participate in the ceremony and take delivery of their new racecars, and we’re betting they would have made the trek even without the sheet cake. All attendees signed a 2012 Mustang Cobra Jet hood that will later be placed on the walls of the production facility.

Inden Design lays its hands on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Inden Design has gotten its greasy tuner mitts all over the 2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and come up with a luxury sedan for your dark side. The S-Class is no slouch when it comes to being big and impressive, but Inden takes the intimidation to Don Corleone levels with its treatment of the big Merc.

On the outside, Inden added side sills, new front and rear spoilers and 20×10.5-inch wheels front and rear. The tuner sealed the look with a matte-grey film covering in lieu of new paint. Inden also added a new sport exhaust, bringing horsepower up to 420, and killed the Vmax limiter. Keeping everything planted is a sport suspension, lowering the car by 50 mm, and a set of S600 six-piston caliper brakes up front and four-piston clamps out back.

The interior got treated to two-tone leather on the seats, dash and door panels, and the headliner and A, B and C pillars got the Alcantara treatment. To keep everything as modern as possible, Inden threw out the old wood trim and replaced it with carbon fiber. Read all about it in the press release after the break.

World’s Fastest Ferrari – Click above to watch video after the jump

We’ve seen a lot of special action from the Bonneville Salt Flats this year, but this just about takes the cake. The guys from P4 by Norwood, a Ferrari tuning shop, are laying claim to the title of the World’s Fastest Ferrari with a record run of 275.4 mph averaged over two sprints. Using a stock-bodied 1985 288 GTO, owner Steve Trafton managed to snag not only the title of world’s fastest Ferrari, but the world’s fastest sports car (AA/BFMS) at the same time. The Prancing Horse beat out the previous record holder by just over 3 mph.

Interestingly enough, Thrafton skipped using a high-dollar Italian mill for this car’s beating heart. Instead, there’s a 540 cubic-inch big block General Motors V8 wedged down into that slinky body. Two Borg Warner 80-mm turbos help shove a full 17 pounds of boost into the eight-pot. Thrafton isn’t saying exactly how much power the car is laying down, but it has to be enough to move a planet on command if need be. Hit the jump to watch the Ferrari do what it does best on the Utah salt.
