Video: Motor Recall app makes game out of identifying vehicle lights at night

motor recall app

What will they think of next? This is an app called Motor Recall, and if you’re at all like us, it’s pretty much the equivalent of any nighttime car ride as a kid – see a pair of headlights or taillights, pick out the make, model and if you’re lucky/good, the year. Now, the clever folks at Case By Case Studios have turned that time-honored way of surviving a long drive into an app.

Loaded with over 250 different headlight and taillight patterns, players have the choice of either matching the headlights with taillights in a game called Match, or out and out guessing which vehicle is being shown, not surprisingly, called Guess. Players can score points and unlock even rarer vehicles the longer they play. Case By Case is claiming that it will continue to update with new vehicles to keep you guessing, which makes us quite excited for this new game. Could be a great time waster.

Take a look at the demo trailer below. Motor Recall is only available in the Apple App Store, but we’d expect it to arrive on other platforms in the future.

Video: Magnus Walker soliloquizes in his Porsche 911 at night

Filed under: Classics, Coupe, Performance, Videos, Porsche

Magnus Walker drives his 1971 911 hot rod in his latest video by Obscura.

Magnus Walker, a prolific Los Angeles clothing designer who has also carved out a respected spot for himself in Porsche world, has had yet another video made about him and his sizable Porsche collection. In this latest video, Hong Kong-based Obscura magazine focuses its video cameras on Walker and his 1971 Porsche 911 track car (yes, the one that appeared on Jay Leno’s Garage) as he speeds around Downtown LA and Little Tokyo late at night.

We’ve heard Walker’s story many times before. He’s not like the average Porsche owner, perhaps a tad more passionate than most, and he builds 911s like he designs clothes: his way. Sure, we might be a little envious, but can you blame us? View this very slick and entertaining nighttime video entitled Disturbing The Peace below.

Video: Compilation of memorable movie windscreen shots is great for trivia night

Supercut Windshield Scenes Video

This might be the coolest video you’ll see all day. From Supercut’s YouTube channel comes this two-minute clip of nothing but movie scenes that take place in cars. Using Hollywood’s time-honored through-the-windshield shot, it’s interesting to see how so many movies stick to the same formula when showing scenes that take place behind the wheel (or should we say, in front of the wheel).

The sheer number of movies that use this view, rather than some B-roll of the car moving down the road, show how important scenes in cars can be. Give the vid a watch below and try to identify which scenes are from which movies. Afterwards, you can can head over to Supercut’s YouTube page for the full rundown of which films are shown.

Video: Top Gear Poland takes women to mall for night of shopping

Top Gear Poland

Top Gear Poland – Click above to watch for video after the jump

Of the many criticisms leveled at the U.S. interpretation of Top Gear, perhaps the most stinging is that the show relies on re-baked ideas lifted wholesale from the grand-pappy of all motoring shows, Top Gear UK. That may be true, but it’s also a trick that the producers of the show’s various ethnicities have been employing for years. What’s more, it doesn’t look like it will stop any time soon.

A video of Top Gear Poland‘s latest antics has leaked to the interwebs, and fans of the OG TG will likely recognize the premise.

The show’s presenters have been unleashed on an unsuspecting shopping mall in the middle of the night, and the video shows a Peugeot 107, a Chevrolet Spark, a Smart ForTwo and a Toyota iQ zooming around with a Jaguar XKR. One of these things is most certainly not like the other ones.

We’re not entirely sure what the premise behind the clip is, considering that the video lacks any of the tire-squealing glory of the infamous Chevrolet Corvette vs. Ford Fiesta battle helmed by Jeremy Clarkson. Still, we’ve always wanted to wheel around in the display vehicles in the mall, so the clip at least lets us live out that fantasy. Hit the jump to check it for yourself.
