Smiling kid in a Porsche 911

The best way to get to school – Click above to watch video after the jump

Some of or earliest memories are of toddling around car shows in awe and thumbing through the local Automart, but there had to have been a moment when we made the switch from growing up as relatively normal children to becoming kids obsessed with the thrash of internal combustion. Maybe it was something like the event in the video posted after the jump.

While most kids are subjected to the brutality of a daily school bus ride, this particular youngster gets chauffeured in style. His dad’s ride of choice is a 1996 Porsche 911. Sure, there are more practical family haulers out there, but few scoot along with such prowess.

Dad serves up a quick bout of acceleration and son responds with an appropriate attack of the giggles. This is how you know you’re raising your progeny correctly. Hit the jump to check out the video for yourself. Thanks for the tip, Maz!

Drivers wanted: Repairacar offers car nut’s dream job

For most of us, the opportunity to drive a rotating assemblage of the world’s finest cars, from the Ferrari 458 Italia to the Bugatti Veyron to the Bentley Mulsanne, is an unattainable dream. For one person, though, the dream could become a job. British repair shop Repairacar is looking for a responsible person to pick up and return customers’ supercars from all over Europe.

The job entails taking public transportation to the customer’s house, picking up their car, driving it to Repairacar for whatever service or fix it needs, and driving it back to the owner once repairs have been made. According to Repairacar, assignments could come from every corner of Europe, necessitating spending a lot of time on public transportation. The reward, though, should make the bus or train ride well worth it.

Because of the high-liability nature of the job, Repairacar is being very particular about whom it will hire. Ten years’ experience with high-performance driving is a requirement of the job, and showing up for your interview in a Civic with a fart pipe will likely get you automatically disqualified. Repairacar says the pay is around $50,000 a year, plus expenses for travel. Applications close at the end of April.

Planters cracks open a new ride for Mr. Nut

Planters Nutmobile

Mr. Peanut can’t be relegated to just any automobile. After all, as the face of Nabisco’s Planters division and as one of the most beloved (though just a wee bit creepy, if we’re being honest) mascots in American history, Sir Nut needs a ride suitable of his stature. And, since he’s apparently over 12 feet tall and carries a six-foot-long cane, we’re talking some significant stature.

Fittingly then, Planters has seen fit to replace Mr. Peanut’s old set of wheels with a brand-new Nutmobile. And this is no ordinary Nutmobile… if such a thing actually existed. Based on a 2011 Isuzu NPR truck with a diesel engine running a five-percent mixture of biodiesel (oddly not actually nut-based), this latest Nutmobile will be making appearances all around the country to “promote the peanut lifestyle” and draw support for The Corps Network.

According to The New York Times, this latest Nutmobile is quite the green machine. In addition to the biodiesel blend, it features “a wind turbine, solar panels, LED interior lighting, recycled parts and wood floors reclaimed from a 19th century Pennsylvania barn.” Guess it’s not very nutty after all, is it? Top tip, Jeff!
