The new 2012 BMW 6 Series has already proven itself to be an improvement over its predecessor in many ways, with a host of updates that should make BMW fans happy. The news we’re eagerly awaiting is the official reveal of the upcoming M6 variant, as well as its drop-top sibling. We’re under the assumption that the M6 should pack the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 as the M5, with something close to the sedan’s 560 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque.

Beyond that, we’re expecting the M6 convertible to look a lot like its non-M sibling, but for now, we’ll have to peruse spy photos until we can see the real thing. Click on the photo above or the gallery below to check out the well-disguised pics. There’s a lot of paisley camouflage, but we can clearly see some upsized wheels and tires, quad exhaust tips out back and body-side molding to keep this high-pot cruiser closer to the road.

Spy lenses in Germany recently caught sight of the upcoming 2012 Mini Coupe, and now those same crafty photogs just trained their cameras on a quasi-camouflaged Mini Speedster.

Like its fixed-top sibling, we can clearly see a low-slung shape and a pop-up rear spoiler for some added sporty flair. We’re not sure what all that yellow swirliness is supposed to be covering, but we look forward to finding out, and to seeing this runabout with its top in the stowed position.

The two-door drop-top has been rumored to make an appearance for over a year now and it seems we’re getting closer to seeing a production version bathed by auto show stage lights. Since we don’t know when that will occur, the gallery below will have to do for now.

Spy Shots: Ferrari 612 Scaglietti replacement caught out on the prowl

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Don’t be fooled by that big ol’ bulge out back – the successor to the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is destined to be a swoopy, sexy coupe when it launches sometime next year. Our spies indicate that the hunchback shape is all for show and that it’s part of an elaborate camouflage suit designed to completely mask the sloping rear roofline. Your dreams of a Ferrari-badged shooting brake have indeed been dashed. Still, the new 612 coupe will surely be an eye-catcher, what with its 458 Italia-inspired front fascia, long, raked hood and short rear deck.

The 612 replacement will likely use an advanced all-wheel-drive system and power will come from a 6.3-liter V12 churning out roughly 670 horsepower, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The rumors surrounding this combination suggest a 3.7-second 0-60 time and a top speed somewhere around 210 miles per hour. We’re planning to see the finished 612 at the Geneva Motor Show this March, so stay tuned for the full hotness.
