The Paris Motor Show in just over a month is shaping up to the be one of the biggest shows for Lotus in many decades. While the highlight is expected to be a new supercar successor to the departed Esprit, it apparently won’t be alone. At least two additional occupants of the Lotus stand have been accidentally confirmed, including an Evora Automatic and a hotted-up Evora S.

This second iteration of the newest Lotus is expected to receive a supercharger bolted to its 3.5-liter Toyota V6 boosting it up to 350 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The brakes and thermal requirements of the base Evora have reportedly been sized for more powerful models so they won’t need upgrading for the S.

A prototype of what’s believed to be the Evora S was caught outside the Nürburgring this week preparing for its public debut. The only notable visual difference for the S appears to be a more prominent rear diffuser. Check out the little red devil by taking a closer look at our high-res gallery below.

Vauxhall shows off street legal (!) 3000-horsepower Red Victor 3

Red Victor 3 – Click above for high-res image

The drag racing world is a scary, scary place. It’s a realm where engines are built to hold together just long enough to scoot down the quarter mile before they’re torn apart and rebuilt for the next run. It’s a world where if your vehicle is turning anything close to double-digit fuel mileage, it’s not producing enough horsepower.

Typically, these types of monstrosities are little more than trailer queens that are rolled onto the strip and then back into their awaiting shuttles home. That’s not the case with the new Vauxhall Red Victor 3 – a custom-built racer that has a twin-turbocharged 8.8-liter General Motors V8 under the hood good for 3,000 horsepower.

The car uses 1967 Victor FD sheet metal, though the company says that the whole contraption is entirely street legal. How’s about them apples? The car was built specifically for the Power Festival at Silverstone (how appropriate…), which kicks off August 28. Vauxhall predicts that the car should run 240 miles per hour in the quarter at 6.5 seconds. Yup. That’s pretty quick. Hit the jump for a look at the full press blast.

Red Bull’s Mark Webber running Spa for the Red Bulletin – Click above to watch video after the jump

Although all the F1 focus was on Hungaroring this past weekend, Red Bull is gearing up for the race at Spa at the end of August. This time it’s Mark Webber taking us around the Spa Francorchamps circuit in the Red Bull simulator, and if we can offer a little advice: he might want to be a bit more careful through Eau Rouge come race time… There’ll be an augmented reality feature on the track at www.redbulletin.com soon, but for now you can follow the jump for the video.

UPDATE: Video linked fixed.

Chevrolet Volt will not be rated at 230 mpg; Victory Red paint debuts

Chevrolet Volt in ‘Victory Red’ – Click above for high-res image gallery

Remember how big a deal General Motors made about the upcoming 2011 Chevy Volt’s supposed 230 mile per gallon EPA fuel mileage rating? Well, you can now forget about it. According to USA Today, the Feds have decided not to use the preliminary testing procedure that produced that mythical 230 mpg figure, and a new methodology for rating electric vehicles has yet to be finalized. Don’t expect a revised mileage figure any time soon. In fact, an actual mpg equivalent rating may not come until the Volt is just about ready to hit the market at the end of the year.

This revelation was revealed this afternoon during an event at GM’s Michigan battery plant in Brownstown Township, and we were in attendance. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of the first-ever red Chevrolet Volt. This “Victory Red” example is one of between 30 and 40 manufacturing validation vehicles built so far at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Those cars were preceded by about three dozen production verification cars built since late March of this year. This particular example was built about one week ago.

In the next two to three weeks, General Motors will start building so-called “salable” Volts that will go into the captured test fleet for GM employees to accumulate miles and catch any last minute glitches before the cars enter full production in November.

What do you think – does Victory Red suit the Volt? Have your say in ‘Comments.’
