According to the wizards at Europe’s CAR magazine, sources within BMW have confirmed that the high-performance X3 M could launch as early as 2012. A stupid-fast X3 hardly seems necessary, but then again, that’s what we said about the larger X5 M and X6 M before falling in love after our stints behind the wheel.

CAR states that the X3 M will likely be powered by a tweaked version of the new six-cylinder engine bound for duty in the M3. In the X3, this engine will reportedly produce somewhere around 450 horsepower, and could use a brand new tri-turbo system – one electric turbocharger paired with two exhaust-gas-driven units.

A 450-horsepower X3? With three turbochargers (one of which is electric)? Sounds absurd (and is to be taken with a grain of salt… for now), but based on our experiences with the rest of BMW’s M range, consider us totally stoked.

Mopar 2011 Charger

In 2010, Chrysler released the 2010 Mopar Challenger with a 500-unit production run. Chrysler tells us the gussied-up pony car was so popular with the die-hard Mopar faithful that the entire production run was sold out in three days.

Team Pentastar is looking to make similar headlines for 2011 with the official introduction of the 2011 Mopar Charger. The sedan comes only in Pitch Black with a Mopar Blue stripe that stretches across the top of the entire body, and a rear spoiler is standard fare on this limited production model.

Inside, this special edition Charger features Mopar-branded Katzkin leather seats with contrasting Mopar Blue stitching that also appears on the steering wheel. The Mopar Charger also features the next-generation Pistol Grip combined with Auto Stick, which enables the driver to select a higher or lower gear while a transmission controller ensures that you’re not over-revving. Further differentiation comes courtesy of special instrument bezels and an identifying plaque on the instrument panel. The Mopar name again appears on the floor mats and door sills.

The Rumbler: Coming to a Cop Car near you – Click above to watch video after the jump

If you’re walking down the street, you might be distracted with a phone at your ear, or you might be listening to your iPod, or you might just be oblivious. When driving, the car you’re in is insulated to reduce the amount of exterior noise that enters the cabin, and besides, you might have a stereo on. This can be a problem for the police, who use their sirens as an attention grabbing device. There is a solution, however, and it’s called the Rumbler.

Fitting a pair of subwoofers under the rear bumper and connecting them to the horn, the police are able to grab your attention in a whole new way. The Rumbler produces a tone at the same volume as the sirens, but because its a much lower tone, you don’t just hear it, you feel it. CNN Money’s Peter Valdes-Dapena explores the Rumbler as fitted to NYPD patrol cars in the clip posted after the jump.
