Video: Need For Speed movie offers first sneak peek

The live-action movie version of the cops-versus-cars Need For Speed video game series is set to hit the big screen next February, and Dreamworks Studios has released a video taking us behind the scenes of its upcoming flick. Director Scott Waugh shows off some of the movie’s early stages of production, which include plenty of car chases and crashes.

Aside from the wrecks of a McLaren P1 and Saleen S7, this short teaser video also showcases plenty of other supercars (real or fake) as well as the star car: a specially built Ford Mustang. Scroll down to watch the video, and let us know in the comments if this movie is on your “must-see” list.

If you’re a Jeep fan, than it’s time to get excited ,because Easter is almost here. Why Easter? Eggs and candy! Because it signals the return of Jeep’s Moab Easter Safari. This event is often a showcase for new products and concept vehicles from Chrysler’s off-road brand.

In the past, Jeep has used the Moab Easter Safari to show off concept vehicles like the Lower Forty, Wrangler J7 and Trail Boss, Patriot Extreme and even the “Moparized” Ram Power Wagon. This time around, for the 45th annual Safari event, Jeep is feature two new vehicles that invoke visions of an older period in Jeep’s history: the Jeep Renegade and the Jeep “Porkchop.”

These are just two of the six vehicles that Jeep is bringing to Moab. The Easter Safari runs from April 16 through the 24.

DiRT 3

Codemasters’ DiRT 3 – Click above to watch the video after the jump

For pure, unadulterated rally action from the comfort of your living room, there’s nothing quite like DiRT. The video game franchise from Codemasters is about as realistic as they come, and now they’ve got their third installment coming in the form of DiRT 3.

Not only is the game promised to be more accurate in its execution and feel, but it incorporates a whole new slew of features. There are more cars and more stages, of course, but that’s hardly the end of it: DiRT 3 also incorporates two new kinds of rally action – Gymkhana and hillclimb. The former, of course, was popularized by Ken Block who’s now crossed over to professional rally competition, while the latter brings events like Pikes Peak into the fold to really get that dirt kicking. But don’t take our word for it, follow the jump to watch the video preview from G4, including an interview with the studio’s lead game developer and gameplay footage from what is shaping up as the new benchmark in rally action.

Korean-spec Hyundai Avante interior gives sneak peek inside 2011 Elantra

Even though we have yet to see official images of the U.S.-spec 2011 Hyundai Elantra, we have a pretty good idea of what will be heading our way in the coming months. Hyundai debuted the new Avante sedan (the Elantra’s Korean market equivalent) at the Busan Motor Show this past April, and now the first interior snapshot of the Avante has been leaked out.

If you’ve been in the new 2011 Sonata, you know that the family sedan’s cabin is a giant leap forward in the right direction. The center stack is awash with curves and angles that pay homage to the automaker’s new “fluidic sculpture” exterior design. And styling aside, we’re willing to bet that Hyundai hasn’t skimped out on high-quality materials for the less-expensive Elantra’s innards, either.

This more attractive, better-tailored interior will do well when matched with the swoopier lines of the new Elantra’s exterior. That – combined with Hyundai’s new 138-horsepower, 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder – will mean that other new cars in the budget sedan segment (this means you, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cruze) will need to watch their backs. If the new Elantra is being positioned as a baby Sonata, the competition should indeed be stiff. Top tip, Monkaroo!
