The Ford Mustang is a brilliantly affordable source of horsepower, with a base 300-plus-horsepower version available for well under $30,000. Jumping up to about $35,000 will get you a solid 420 horsepower from a high-revving V8, while those with some extra disposable income can get a pair of 600-plus-horsepower monsters. Both the Roush Stage 3 with its Phase 3 package and Ford’s factory Shelby GT500 even crest the 650-horsepower mark, with 675 and 662 ponies, respectively.

Naturally, someone needed to find out which of these hi-po Mustangs was the quickest. And while this video is quite obviously a dealership commercial, at least there’s some solid drag racing between two of the most powerful performance machines available for under $100,000.

With two NHRA drag racers at the wheel, the Stage 3 and GT500 go head to head for three races. Scroll down below to see the results in the full video.

The 2011 model year represents an all-new generation of the Nissan Quest. It’s a stylish people hauler that should spice up the competition among industry heavyweights like the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Chrysler Town & Country.

It may also be popular with entertainment-seeking grown-ups. We’re not talking about concerts or sporting events, but rather the type of windowless entertainment facilities that require a trip to the ATM beforehand… and then another trip a few songs later. Yes, as you see above, an “Adult Entertainment” category is part of the Quest navigation system’s POI database. This functionality may, in fact, be included in other Nissan and/or Infiniti products – or GPS systems from other automakers – but this is the first time we’ve seen it anywhere.

In any case, this proves that the 2011 Nissan Quest isn’t just a capable kid-hauler – it’s equally qualified for bachelor party duty. Thanks for the tip, Keith!

Toyota Tacoma X-Runner RTR hits the strip ahead of SEMA

We’ve got a Tacoma-sized soft spot for factory-built high performance trucks, even if they’re just concepts. It’s why we loved the F-150 Lightning and why we think the new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is one of the best things to happen to the pickup world in a long time. Toyota is helping to fuel that fire with the introduction of its new Tacoma X-Runner RTR. In this case, those last three consonants stand for “Ready to Race.” The machine looks like our kind of absurdity and was built for that mecca of inanity, SEMA.

The RTR follows an age-old hot rodding recipe; shove the biggest engine you’ve got into the lightest chassis on hand. Under the hood, a supercharged 5.7-liter V8 borrowed from the larger Tundra should help the Tacoma RTR dominate the drag strip. The engine is coupled to a stock six-speed automatic transmission, also from the Tundra, and a Tundra rear axle dumps all of the power to the pavement.

Toyota says that the drivetrain is good for 504 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, and that those numbers are good enough to get the truck to scoot down the quarter mile in around 11 seconds. If you can’t tell, we’re grinning from ear to ear. Head over to Pickuptrucks.com for a closer look.
