Nissan Quest in new commercial

Nissan Quest shows off its useful cargo space in new ad – Click above to watch video after the jump

After skipping a model year in transition, the new 2011 Nissan Quest is on the scene, and Nissan needs to win over prospective minivan shoppers. So, it’s time for the ad onslaught to begin. In this new spot, Nissan highlights the Quest’s storage capacity by showcasing a harried mom balancing (literally) a Herculean shopping load, two kids and her poor cone-wearing pooch. Naturally, it all goes south, but the Quest magically saves the day and eradicates rank dog breath to boot. See for yourselves after the jump.

Smoke ’em if you got ’em. Well, only if you’re really just interested in showing off. In reality, if your tires go up in giant plumes of white smoke, you’re going nowhere fast.

It stands to reason, then, that drivers of the 2012 Nissan GT-R, which once again has an official factory launch control mode, won’t be indulging in any tire-smoking shenanigans. Instead, they will be launching themselves and any passengers they may be carrying into ludicrous speed with nary a hint of wheelspin to contend with.

And we finally have first-hand video evidence that proves the point. We witnessed the 2011 GT-R catapult itself into near orbit using launch control with our own eyes and managed to capture the act on video. Click past the break to see for yourself.

Cadillac CTS-V Coupe racer car at Sebring – Click above to watch the video after the break

Cadillac has just unleashed a video of its CTS-V Coupe race car going through some shakedown runs at Sebring Raceway in preparation for the first race of the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT.

In this video, titled 60 Seconds at Sebring (though it’s actually a second longer…) the real Caddy that Zigs burbles and pops just like GM’s Corvette racers, but in our humble opinions, looks even meaner than those all-conquering machines ever did. Seriously, get a load of that over-the-top rear wing!

Do yourself a favor and check out the video after the break, and stay tuned for the car’s first official outing on March 25 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Chevy Caprice Arizona police test

Chevrolet Caprice police car gets flogged – Click above to watch the video after the jump

With the Ford Crown Victoria on the outs, the competition to be the “cop car of the future” is intense. Ford has both the Taurus- and Explorer-based Police Interceptors, Dodge is prepping a copped-up Charger and Chevrolet has the Holden Statesman-based Caprice Patrol Vehicle. As you can imagine, all three companies are working hard to woo local police departments into ordering large fleets, and here we see the General Motors folks showing off its new Caprice to officers in Arizona.

The officers seem impressed with the 355-horsepower 6.0-liter V8 and tight suspension, and the added interior space appears to be winning over the boys and girls in blue brown, as well. Interestingly, the folks at GM’s Holden division ran this event instead of team Chevy. Makes sense, especially since the event enabled Holden engineers can get feedback from straight from the customer. Hit the jump to watch the video for yourself.

Ferrari Four testing at Bolocco

Ferrari Four testing at Bolocco – Click above to watch the video after the jump

You can bet dollars to donuts that when Ferrari brings a new car to market, it’s undergone a ridiculously thorough testing regimen. That applies whether it’s developing a coupe, a convertible or even a station wagon shooting brake, as we saw with the release of the new FF.

Especially the FF, as it turns out, as the new four-seater from Maranello represented a number of firsts for Ferrari. It has an all-new engine, incorporating the HELE system for the first time, coupled with a completely new kind of all-wheel drive system, and mounted into a body-style that was previously the exclusive purview of custom coachbuilders.

In short, the Ferrari Four is nothing like they’ve ever made before, and so – as you can see from the video after the jump – thorough testing was required. Which is exactly what was carried out at a number of race tracks, test tracks and proving grounds. In this case, it’s the Centro Sperimentale Bolocco in Italy. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.

Video: BMW teaches evasive driving techniques at a Cold War air base

BMW Security Driving

Click above to watch the video after the jump

It’s not without reason that BMWs are among the top choices for high-security personnel transport. BMW Security vehicles – armor-reinforced versions of the standard roadcars we see on the road every day – are known to be both secure and responsive to quick, often life-saving maneuvers. But what good would these vehicles be if their drivers didn’t know how to handle them properly?

That’s why BMW has a security vehicle training facility in East Germany. Built on the grounds of what was once the largest Cold War air base in Europe, the center is run by advanced driving instructor Klaus Heimerl, who shows chauffeurs and security personnel how to evade any number of potentially threatening situations, from ambushes to roadside bombs. Follow the jump to watch the video, and head to www.bmw.com/drivertraining to find out more.

Video: GM dares to compare Chevy Cruze to… the old Hyundai Elantra?

Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra

Chevrolet dares to compare the new Cruze to an old Elantra – Click above to watch video after the jump

General Motors is using the phrase “Dare to Compare” as part of a campaign pitting its vehicles directly against competitors. In a new video you’ll find after the break, the Chevrolet Cruze lines up against the Hyundai Elantra… the now-outdated 2010 Hyundai Elantra.

While the Cruze 1LT (why not the base LS?) indeed performs quite well against the previous-generation, base-model Hyundai sedan, we would prefer to see it go wheel-to-wheel with the 2011 Elantra. Apples to apples and all that, right? As it stands, Chevrolet has dared to compare itself to an older version of a car that has since improved greatly. Hardly seems like a fair fight…

For those wondering about the dollars and cents, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze 1LT starts at $18,175 (the base Cruze LS starts at $16,275). By way of comparison, the base 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS starts at $14,830 and the 2010 model started at $14,145.

It’s not that the Cruze isn’t a fine car… but ya know, the new 2011 Cruze is quite a bit better than a lot of older cars… including the Cobalt this Elantra once competed with. Click past the jump for the clip.

Hot Wheels Video Racer coming this Fall for $60 [w/video]

Hot Wheels Video Racer

Hot Wheels Video Racer in action – Click above to watch the video after the break

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re firmly entrenched in the year 2011. Clearly, it’s high time for the little 1:64-scale cars your fathers were playing with when they were your little boy’s age to get an update, and Hot Wheels has just stepped up to the plate in a big way.

Come Christmas time, you’ll be able to fill stockings with the Video Racer, which, as its name suggests, adds a tiny camera to the front of your favorite little micro-sized motorer. Even cooler is the itty-bitty LCD screen you see when you flip to the bottom of the car, where you can then watch up to 12 minutes of recorded footage.

You can also use a USB connection to hook the Video Racer to your computer, and the little cars come equipped with attachments that allow them to be worn on the wrist (for covert spy work?), helmet, bicycle, skateboard or anything else that suits your fancy.

For $59.99 (we’ll let you be the judges on the value proposition), you’ll be able to purchase one of these little jewels this fall, and that price includes video editing software that works on Windows-powered PCs. Well done, Mattel. Check out a video of the Video Racer after the break.

Pagani Huayra: Come on feel the noise – Click above to watch video after the jump

Pagani’s latest supercar has wrapped up its endless teaser routine and the covers have officially come off the gullwing Huayra. And while we’ve already gotten the specs and seen the pics, the crew from EVO got a sneak peak at the Huayra in Italy and managed to snag some video of Pagani’s newest creation.

It may be missing the hard-charging action we so desperately crave, but we do get to hear the engine and get a very brief view of the chrome-clad interior. Hop past the jump to see for yourselves. Also, it scares puppies.

triple decker burnout

A bike, a ‘ute and a truck drive into a parking lot… Click above to watch video after the jump

We may be a bit late in posting this clip, but it’s new to us… and it’s excellent. We present to you a triple-decker burnout that puts most other tire-shredding attempts to shame. On top is a motorcycle, resting in the bed of a ‘ute, sitting on the back of a truck. You see where this is going, but rather than rattle on, just click past the jump and see it for yourself. Thanks for the tip, gian!
