Chinese automotive transport double-decker dual-car loader

Side-by-side double-decker car transporter – Click above to watch video after the jump

Need to carry multiple cars across a long distance in one shot? What if the amount of cars you want to carry exceeds the capacity for your standard automotive transport truck? China apparently has a solution, and it comes in the form of a dual-deck transporter, which is capable of carrying cars side-by-side on its upper load level.

This unconventional piece of heavy machinery was caught on film and it appears almost majestic in the way it rumbles down the road, but we’re quite sure we don’t want to be driving around it when it takes a corner with an excess of speed. Hop the jump to watch a short clip of this beast in action.

Hyundai's Holiday Pomplamoose ads

Hyundai Holidays Pomplamoose ads – click above to watch video after the jump

Have you been digging the fun takes on classic Christmas songs in the “Hyundai Holidays” commercials? Meet Pomplamoose, the musical duo that stars in a series of Hyundai commercials alongside some of the company’s vehicles.

This isn’t the first time Pomplamoose’s unique vocal stacks and arrangements have been used in a car ad, their version of “Mr. Sandman” was used in a Toyota Avalon spot, but the Hyundai commercials are unusual for featuring Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn as prominently as the cars. In fact, the Hyundai commercials are consistent in style with the “regular” videos Pomplamoose has done. The coolest thing (besides the fun instrumentation) is that the ads were shot in the band’s garage. Young Yngwie Malmsteens practicing their minor pentatonic scales now have hope of being discovered without ever leaving the house! Check out the story behind the commercials and see the spots after the jump.

Pagani C9 Teaser

Pagani teases… something – Click above to watch video after the jump

The Pagani C9 is coming and it will be here sooner than you think. Slated to arrive in the beginning of 2011, the C9 figures to be a beastly V12-powered supercar ready to pick up where the Zonda leaves off… if it ever actually leaves. Before we get a good look at the production C9, Pagani has decided to go the teaser route. It’s giving us a glimpse of… something, and it’s doing it in video form rather than close-ups of a headlamp or a wheel lugnut.

It’s hard to tell exactly what to look for in the video, but you have to watch until this most subtle of teasers all the way to the end to find it. Hop the jump to view the java-flavored clip. Thanks to all for the tips!

Something ’round yonder bend is waiting – Click above to watch video after the jump

When you gotta go, you gotta go. We’re not talking about dying, we’re talking about answering nature’s clarion call. However, the individual seen in this video very nearly combined the two. While the side of a seemingly empty road might provide an ample spot for an emergency bathroom, you should be sure it is, in fact, empty. This one is not.

An Audi driver was on the road, apparently enjoying his German sedan con brio when he lost control. Did he succumb to oversteer because he spied a man relieving himself, or because of the camera man filming the his buddy? Perhaps he saw both – or perhaps he saw neither. In fact, perhaps the video isn’t even real, but it certainly looks it. If it’s the real deal, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn than more than one person soiled themselves in the making of this video.

Hop the jump to view the clip and tell us what you think in Comments. Top tip, Marshall!

Subaru Towing Fail

A lesson in how NOT to tow – Click above to watch video after the jump

Sometimes you have to tow a car. It’s generally not a big deal and most of us have been a tower or towee at some point. One rule of thumb when manning the car being towed – leave the keys in the ignition so you don’t lock the steering wheel. If you fail to heed these words, as do the chaps you’ll see after the break, you might ended up causing some serious damage to your modified Subaru non-operational vehicle

The two gents riding in the Subaru seen in this video were very lucky they only managed to hurt the car. This adventure in towing could have gone way worse… click past the jump and watch the clip to see what we mean, but be warned there is some NSFW language involved.

Video: What should Alex Roy’s next car be?

Alex Roy, transcontinental speed record holder

Alex Roy needs your help picking his next car – Click above to watch video after the jump

Alex Roy is using his Fast Lane Daily video column to ask for your help. The transcontinental speed specialist has just moved to Santa Monica, California and his record-setting Polizei-liveried BMW is not exactly legal at the moment. He has about $20k to spend on a used car and he wants viewers to weigh-in on what he should buy.

His criteria? An automatic transmission due to the horrible LA traffic, and all-wheel drive… due to the horrible LA weather? He also wants a vehicle that will help him blend in with the crowd to help him keep away from Johnny Law and his ticket book. Obviously, Roy leans German right off the bat, naming a few Audi and BMW models he would consider but then expands his choices to include various Volvo and Jeep vehicles.

Roy wants to know what cars or trucks he is leaving out, and he wants you to help him. Hop the jump to hear Roy’s criteria and then leave your suggestions in Comments.

Adoption billboard

Autoblog reader Josh and wife Wendy need your help – Click above to watch video after the jump

A lot of emails arrive in our inbox every day, as you might imagine. We’re not able to respond to all of them, sadly, and besides, we don’t know why the bed of your 1993 GMC Sierra squeaks and we apologize in advance for not looking at your blog chronicling the hottest auto trends of Belarus. That said, we do respond to as many as possible, and we appreciate all of your tips. Every now and then, we receive very special emails that we take to heart and help out in any way we can. One such electronic letter arrived the other day from an Autoblog reader named Josh.

Josh says that he’s a fanatical reader of the site (never hurts…), the owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette and he even works for General Motors in Flint, Michigan. Josh is also a man looking to adopt a child with his wife, Wendy. The couple has gone through the process of applying for an adoption, passed with flying colors and now have been told they must simply wait.

Well, they’ve been waiting… and waiting, with no calls from the adoption authorities. Rather than dismiss the process or wait for years, the two have taken to marketing themselves. First, they printed up t-shirts and business cards. Now, Josh and Wendy have decided to go even bigger – as in billboard big. Alongside Michigan’s Interstate 75 in Grand Blanc, you might see their smiling faces as well as a phone number to call and get in touch with them. The billboard in question looks like the one above (okay, so we’ve taken the CBS Outdoor art and touched it up a bit so you can see the information a bit more clearly).

It’s a sad state of affairs when an approved and eager couple aren’t able to find a baby waiting to go to real home. Their extraordinary promotion efforts says a lot about how much Josh and Wendy are eager to raise a bundle of joy, and we wish them luck. It’s not just Autoblog trying to lend a helping hand, CNN caught up with Josh and Wendy and you can view the clip after the jump.

Toyota Prius Cozy

Toyota warms up the Prius with a cozy – Click above to watch video after the jump

No matter what part of the country you live in, temperatures are probably a bit colder than you might like. Whether that’s 65 degrees in Arizona or negative numbers in the Midwest, it’s the time of year for extra layers. You know what else gets cold? Your car. To remedy this, Toyota decided to get a bunch of crochet pros together and have them knit a cozy… for a Prius.

We really can’t add anything else here… grab some cocoa, put on the holiday sweater your grandmother bought for you and hop the jump to view the clip.

1989 San Francisco Earthquake

CHP responds to the ’89 San Francisco Earthquake – Click above to watch video after the jump

On October 17, 1989 at approximately 5:04 pm Pacific Standard Time, the San Andreas Fault shifted and a massive earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area. Called the Loma Prieta Earthquake, it was the largest seismic event for this fault-line since 1906. Sixty-three people lost their lives and nearly 4,000 were injured. The physical damage caused by the quake was estimated to cost around $11 billion, but of course the mental and emotional toll could never be tallied.

Shortly after the earthquake struck, the California Highway Patrol sprung into action. The efforts of the CHP, as well as the devastation caused by the quake, were captured in a 22 minute, 58 second video that is part of the public record. It’s an intriguing look back at an extremely difficult moment in California’s history that will never be forgotten by those who witnessed it firsthand. Click past the jump to view the clip.

Video: Mulholland Mayhem – Canyon drivers fail to walk the line

Mullholland Drive - Line Crossing

Crossing the line in the canyons – Click above to watch video after the jump

There are plenty of roadways in and around Los Angeles that provide excellent opportunities to test a vehicle. Blind curves, dramatic elevation changes and scenic vistas combine to create wonderful stretches of asphalt. These roads attract great drivers and amazing machines, but they also attract more than a few idiots lacking in the common sense department. Those double-yellow lines running down the middle of the road are there for a reason, and ignoring isn’t just bad form, it’s dangerous.

One particular stretch of road that’s popular with Southern Californian drivers is Mulholland Highway. A camera crew is usually on-hand over the weekends, and one group has strung together a video showing a collection of lane-crossers showing off some genuinely lousy driving. Stay in your lane and hop the jump to watch the video. Thanks for the tip, Brandon!
