How to Zombie-proof your vehicle

Mighty Car Mods shows us how to prepare our vehicle for a zombie attack – Click above to watch video after the jump

Anyone can mod their car for speed or handling. Those things might not be so helpful when the inevitable happens – our unavoidable future apocalypse full of brain-eating zombies. Thankfully, the fine gents at Mighty Car Mods have been kind enough to put a video tutorial together that will help you prepare a vehicle built to help you survive.

Enlisting the help of a Zombie Survival Expert, our two guides begin with a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder, then quickly set to work getting it ready for the task of battling the living dead. If you live in an area with a high chance of zombie activity (i.e. London, a rural Pennsylvania farm town, or the set of a thrilling music video) then you should pay close attention… the clip is waiting after the jump. Remember: knowledge is power. Thanks for the braaaaains tip, Cory!

Note: Video may not be safe for work. Or from zombies, though that goes without saying.

You don’t have to wait until the 2011 Detroit Auto Show for a closer look at the forthcoming GMC Sierra All-Terrain HD concept. That’s because our friend Mike Levine and his PickupTrucks.com camera managed to get up close with the rugged rig, going on a guided tour with Lead Designer Carl Zipfel.

PickupTrucks.com was kind enough to shoot not one, but two videos while in the presence of the fingers-crossed-they-build-it concept truck. Hop the jump to view both of them.

Hyundai Grandeur/Azera gets the 4D treatment – Click above to watch video after the jump

Avatar may have been a box-office king thanks in part to its wonderful use of 3D film-making. Hyundai, however, is not impressed by Mr. Cameron’s science-fiction epic and it’s decided to show-off the all-new Grandeur/Azera to the Korean public by way of a 4D commercial shown in theaters.

Hyundai wants those watching this clip to get the sensation that they’re actually behind the wheel of the lux’d-up full-size sedan. While we can’t get that feeling from watching a video on the internet, we can imagine where some well-placed mist and wind might show up to tantalize senses beyond just vision.

If you really want to try and recreate the 4D experience, have a friend on hand with a fan and a spray bottle then click past the jump to watch the clip. Thanks for the tip, Spark!

Fiat 500 TwinAir on Fifth Gear – Click above to watch the video after the jump

The more cylinders, the better. Right? That’s exactly the kind of conventional wisdom that’s being turned on its head with the green revolution. Everything from hatchbacks to muscle sedans are dropping pistons like clumsy engine-plant workers these days. But what about the TwinAir engine on the Fiat 500? Have the Italians taken things too far?

That’s what the crew over at Fifth Gear have set about figuring out. The other British car show took the latest Cinquecento – all two cylinders of it – out for video review. So how did it fare? Follow the jump to watch the segment for yourself and find out.

1992 Subaru Legacy railslide

Wyatt Knox creating a new Winter X-Games event – Click above to watch video after the jump

The extreme sports and motorsports worlds have collided in recent years, with the X-Games set trading in their small wheels for much larger ones. In that same spirit, rally driver Wyatt Knox is looking to reverse that trend and bring rallying into the action sports world. Take a front-wheel drive 1992 Subaru Legacy, a well-placed log on Team O’Neil Rally School’s closed course, a couple of HD video cameras and you have the recipe for an automotive railslide.

The end result actually turns out pretty well because Knox knows what he is doing behind the wheel. His backside car slide can be seen in the video after the jump.

Video: Michael Vick hawks for Nissan dealership, skirts shame

Michael Vick Woodbury Nissan commercial

Michael Vick’s Woodbury Nissan commercial – Click above to watch the video after the jump

When Michael Vick went to prison for bankrolling an illegal dog fighting operation, sports journalists and fans the world over threw dirt on his once highly successful career as an NFL quarterback. Vick did his time and eventually made his way back to the big time, but it appeared that his days as a starting quarterback were over. Not so fast. An injury to Philadelphia’s starting quarterback meant that Vick got a second chance to run an NFL offense. And he’s been excelling; perhaps enough so to become the league’s MVP. But can he sell Nissan vehicles? Not a national campaign, mind – we’re talking about a local dealer.

Woodbury Nissan, a dealership in New Jersey just outside of Philly, has hired Vick to hock new and used vehicles. The move probably doesn’t endear the dealership to dog lovers (or animal owners in general), but the hope is that Eagles fans really won’t care. Interestingly, USA Today notes that Vick isn’t getting paid for his appearance, though he is getting use of a $54,000 Armada for his troubles.

Hit the jump to watch the commercial (scripted to mimic The Office)l for yourself. Vick isn’t wearing a cowboy hat and he’s not yelling about amazing deals. Instead, the nearly two-minute spot is very well done for a local add, and it’s pretty funny, too. The dealer even takes a shot at the diminutive Versa, which may not sit well with corporate, but it gave us a chuckle.

Video: Over 11 minutes of BMW 1 Series M Coupe and E30 M3 hotness

BMW 1 Series M Coupe and E30 M3 – Click to watch the video after the jump

The beauty of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe isn’t that the bean-counters let their best performance engineers have at the smallest car in the range. The real beauty is that the car goes back to the very roots of the M division, before the M3 went all V8 on us and took a hefty weight penalty in the process.

To illustrate the point, BMW took the new coupe out to the track, and brought along its spiritual predecessor, the original E30 M3. Fortunately for us, they filmed the encounter – all 11 and a half minutes of it. And while half of it is stock promotional footage, there’s a good few minutes of on-track action spliced in for good measure. Check it out in the video after the jump.

Video: Fast Lane Daily celebrates 1,000 episodes, heads to the ‘Ring for $1,000

Fast Lane Daily 1000th Episode

Fast Lane Daily hits 1,000 episodes and goes to the ‘Ring – Click above to watch video after the jump

Fast Lane Daily has been running for some time now. The Next New Networks show first hit the internet back in 2007, and over the course of the last few years have produced quite a bit of content. In fact, the newest episode marks number 1,000 for the FLD crew. To celebrate the occasion, Fast Lane Daily creator Emil Rensing has sent host Derek DeAngelis to Germany so he can drive the Nürburgring. Sounds pretty amazing, until Derek D. realizes his entire trip has a budget of $1,000.

Regardless of the lack of funds, DeAngelis is still able to get to the Green Hell and spend time on the track. It may be behind the wheel of a Citroën C4 but the entire trip clearly has a strong effect on the host. Though the 24-minute clip is longer than the typical Fast Lane Daily segment, we think it’s worth it to watch this one all the way through.

Hop the jump to watch FLD’s 1,000th episode.

2012 Ford C-Max

2012 Ford C-Max shows off its hands-free liftgate – Click above to watch the video after the jump

Call us weird, but we’re rather excited for the 2012 Ford C-Max to launch here in the United States. The majority of today’s minivans are anything but, and as more people look to downsize and seek out the most efficient vehicles to fit their lifestyles, small MPVs have a real chance to succeed here in the U.S.

Ford is bringing the heat by fitting its C-Max with an innovative new hands-free power liftgate, which automatically opens when the driver waves their foot under the rear bumper. Yes, you need to have the vehicle’s key fob within range, and we’re honestly surprised that no one thought of this sooner (okay, so maybe BMW announced that it’s coming to the 5 Series, but shouldn’t the Honda Odyssey have this by now?) In any case, you can see how easy opening the 2012 C-Max’s liftgate can be by watching the video after the jump.
